Cable Construction

Open up the cable connectors and check the solder. The solder should not have "large Blobs," a sign of too much solder. The solder should appear smooth and slightly shiny. A dull surface of the solder usually indicates a poor connection. [1] Check to make sure there aren't any shorts between conductors.
